“What is something you’ve done…that you’re pretty sure you’re the ONLY person on my friends’ list to have done?”
My friend Jennifer Abreveya posted this question on her Facebook page after one of her friends did the same.
How would you answer that question?
The answers have been hysterical and amazing.
- Peed in a stall next to Meryl Streep.
- Jumped off a cliff.
- Worked a summer on Trump’s yacht.
- Kidnapped a baby for a hospital practice drill and got all the way to the car with the motor running.
- Was an extra in a Bollywood movie.
I contributed: Watched Tanya and Nancy skate at the Olympics and as a reporter had a front row seat to the real “broken shoelace scene”. (See the movie, “I Tanya.”)
I suppose I could have said, did something new every day, 365 days in a row. Ehhh…overkill.
But, I digress.
The point is the new and different things we do are the exclamation points in our lives.
They make us who we are. They make us unique. They make us interesting.
Our brains light up and we are fully alive when we Do the New.
So what is it for you? The thing you’ve done that most people have probably never done?
If you have to reach back to childhood for an answer, it might mean it is really time for you to shake things up and go on an adventure.
As Maya Angelou wrote: “This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before.”
So what will you do with it? Watch the sunset while playing songs on your guitar in Finland? Perform three marriages in a prison? Puke in the Louvre?
You have to do some real living to create memories like that.
So dear friend, I dare you.
Answer the question? What is the one new and daring thing you’ve done…that you’re pretty sure no one else you know has done?
