Every one of us has magic in us. Every one of us has the ability to tap into our most courageous, giving, powerful selves. You do know how to be your best self.
You know what I’m talking about.
It’s the time you won the race, finished a project well, got the job, spoke up for others who couldn’t speak for themselves, fell in love…all those moments in your life you felt like you could do absolutely anything, living the BEST version of you.
The thing is, those amazing moments, flutter away.
Sometimes life hands us things we could never expect..illness, divorce, disappointments, or days of long to do lists that leave you drained at work and at home. We lose ourselves, don’t we?
And I’ve thought about this a lot. I really have. You survive cancer twice and had most of your insides removed, you do think about what life is about…quite a bit.
And I think it’s about this…
It’s KNOWING what it feels like to tap into that very best part of you and learn how to tap into it more often.
It’s usually when you are giving, not taking. It’s when you’ve done something you never thought you could do. It’s when you are using your strengths and passions and energy to full capacity, and you are holding nothing back….that is when we become our most powerful…that is when we are magic.
And when we are off track, when we are not serving ourselves or others well…we know, we’re not even close. We have to feel that too, to know…that’s not it.
For those of you thinking I must be smoking something, I’m not. I’m totally serious and sober about this magic thing.
We can wait for it to come around or we can deliberately strive for it knowing what ingredients must be there…daring, courage, heart. It doesn’t come when we quit. It doesn’t come when we give up on a dream.
It doesn’t come easy.
If you are reading this and feeling like you are so far away from the best of you today, know it’s still there just like it was when you last felt it. Even if it was a very long time ago. Even if it was when you drove a car for the first time. Or, got your first job. Or, went on your first date. Or, did your first polar bear plunge.
It’s still there waiting for you.
I’ve felt it enough so that when it comes around, I recognize it now and I want to hold on to that feeling as long as possible but I know every time….it goes. Every day is not and can’t and shouldn’t be a victory lap. But if I’m doing what I need to be doing, if we are living our truest, the most authentic life we can…it will come around again.
The more we know it, the more we understand this magic, secret of life thing, the more often we can access it…touch it, tap into it.
And that’s it…that’s where the magic is…and when we are in it. When we feel that moment when we are doing exactly what we should be doing in exactly the right moment and everything feels like it’s in perfect alignment…that’s the whole shebang.
The journey getting there? Well, that’s the secret of life. At least…that’s what I think it is.
How about you?
Dare on my friends…!
