I guarantee you, the best gift you can give is an experience you share with a friend, a loved one or even a stranger. Make it a dare; a first-time experience.
When you Give a Dare you are intentionally creating opportunities for new memories that bond you with whoever you share that experience.
And so I’d like to offer you a list of Give a Dare ideas.
If you are scratching your head, trying to figure out what to give the person who has everything or the person you want to make memories with or the person who really needs to Do the New to get unstuck, this is for YOU.
Throw a hatchet, fly or escape.
Give an experience that’s fun and outside almost everyone’s comfort zone. Bury the Hatchet, I Fly and Escape the Room are great examples of activities that will have you playing, get your adrenaline going, but are not death defying like jumping out of a plane. (Seriously, no need to risk life and limb for a thrill!)
Buy a class for two.
Cooking, woodworking, art, dance classes. There’s a class for everything these days. What has your giftee said they always wanted to do? Help nudge them by buying a class and say you’ll go too! My husband loved it when I surprised him with a Wax Art class.
Arrange a tour or tickets to a museum, play, concert or show, that you know will thrill your giftee.
The trick here is to be in tune with their interests…don’t get confused with what YOU would choose for you. I gave my daughter and her boyfriend tickets to a sculpture garden and a gift card for the restaurant there. (Because they kept saying they wanted to go there.) I got Mom kudos for that one.
Give the Gift of You.
A day with you to shop, dine and do new things. A full day devoted to a person you want to spend more time with. You make the plans. You foot the bill. Your giftee will be thrilled you put so much thought in a day you planned to be together. Make it full of surprises too. This doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy. The gift of you is really about time spent together but make sure it includes a first time experience even if it’s just trying a new food or restaurant you’ve never been to.
Give a deck of Dare Cards
Sometimes we need a little help, inspiration, and ideas to Do the New. That’s why I’ve created a deck of Dare Cards. Each card has a simple “dare” anyone can try with some inspiration to go with it. It’s a perfect compliment to my book “I Dare Me” if you want to double dare them for the holidays or just a great little stocking stuffer by itself. Order cards here. Hurry. Supplies are limited.
It’s always best when you Give a Dare, that you are part of the “gift”. You go too! Whatever it is. It’s tough to try new things by yourself. It’s more fun to do new things together.
May the FIRSTS be with you!
