Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach
I don’t know how it’s possible, but I’d never been in Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center until today.
By the way, it was one of those perfect city days. Hot. Lots of people have gone to the shore, leaving the parks, the stores and the Kimmel Center uncrowded and apparently waiting for me.
The Kimmel was celebrating the Summer Solstice with a 10 buck deal for 24 hours. I figured it was finally time to see what was inside.
It’s the antithesis of the Academy of Music, ( opulent, old, traditional). The Kimmel is modern and sleek with a huge skylight and many different venues for music. A potpourri was offered this afternoon. Here’s my little appetizer video.

The solstice celebration continues tomorrow. If you’re in the city, it’s a cultural bargain. Enjoy.
