Mindi Freedman bid on a brunch and book signing at my home to benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer. She invited her good friends..all of them strangers to me when they walked in the door. … friends when they walked out. The common ground of children, jobs, dogs…our lives easily shared over coffee and my grandmother’s cheese souffle. We all took a chance. We all felt like our lives expanded a little by the experience. And today a mom in Texas wrote this to me: Just wanted to say THANK YOU for your book. I bought it two days ago and I’ve almost 75% completed it. You inspired me! I’ve made a list of 46 things so far to get me started. I don’t that I will ‘schedule’ them on the calendar – but I do know that I will keep a running list so that I always have ‘firsts’ to choose from! My kids are helping me with ideas. They love the idea of a “YES” day where I can’t say no to anything. What a gift she gave me. Tomorrow is my 57th Firstday….I have everything I need. I’m so fortunate. One more candle to blow out is another First in itself . Bring it on…bring on the Firsts. This weekend I experienced a First that reminds me once again, how connected we all are and the best gift we have to share is ourselves.
