After reading LuAnn’s book last year, I was inspired to dare myself every day in 2014.
I was talking to my daughter, Taylor, about it and she wanted to join the fun. We have always enjoyed doing things together so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity and experience. The only rule was that our first had to be something we had not done in the last 10 years.
We went into this thinking it would be easy to find something new to do each day, but it has been a struggle some days. We have had some wonderful “firsts” though. We wanted some way to capture our firsts and to be able to share them with each other (and others if they decided to follow our journey). So, we created a joint blog: http://365daysofnewadventures.blogspot.com
Taylor says :
I would have to agree with Mom that some of our best firsts have come from doing something for others. Hearing back from the person I sent the baby gift to was definitely one of my favorite and most rewarding experiences so far. Another would have to be donating to the family of a sorority sister that passed suddenly. It seems the things I’ve enjoyed the most are those that involve doing things for others or that involve others (hugging a stranger, volunteering at a 5K/15K, a strangers registry, and registering for a bone marrow registry).
This has definitely challenged the both of us to try new things and not just live our lives going through the motions of the day.
A few of the things I’m really looking forward to that we have planned for the year include indoor rock climbing, my first Barre class, and white water rafting. I can’t wait to see what the remainder of the year brings to me and my Mom.
Here’s Taylor and her mom Lynn in the middle. Thanks for sharing guys.
