This week I reclaimed a small space in my house. It’s about 4 by 4 in our 2nd bedroom (we only have 2). It’s just enough room for a cardboard table I’ve turned into a desk and a spare chair I had in our bedroom.
What is NEXT in this I DARE ME adventure? Honestly, I’m not sure. There are so many possibilities and directions to go in…writing projects, speaking engagements, teaching , back to school?
I felt compelled to create my little space to “let IT in”. Whatever is NEXT needs a symbolic portal , an entryway . Doesn’t it? I think so.
I’m rolling out the red carpet with flowers and a vision board so whatever pops into this creative space feels welcome.
It is not the first time I’ve claimed a space in my home to START…start an academic paper, a book, a blog…something my own. But the last time, I claimed the dining room table, spreading out everywhere …piles, trash, printers and devices helter skelter. My creative process can get messy.
This next chapter feels like it needs its own peaceful, organized little “womb” ..something nurturing, happy, colorful.
Change sometimes needs a gesture, a nod, a little push…a physical space that is waiting…
I pushed the guest bed, emptied heavy drawers, moved things around to create my “corner office”. Our dog, Star, is sitting at my feet. She likes this space too.
I take that as a good sign we’re in the “right place” for something new.
